An Understanding of Infinite Sustainability

We aspire to create and demonstrate Infinitely Sustainable lifestyles.  We have chosen that term to distinguish between the terms "green" or "sustainable" and the lifestyles we aspire to.  

The terms green and sustainable have been highly commercialized and for many people they communicate little more than "guilt-free" purchasing decision guidelines with little relationship to changing one's actual lifestyle.  For example, one can purchase a houseful of products labeled "green" or "sustainable" and yet create no significant reduction in the planetary resources their lifestyle requires.  Our modern American lifestyle typically consumes the equivalent of five to twelve or more planets worth of resources (assuming everyone on the planet lived the same lifestyle).  You can determine the consumption rate of your own lifestyle by clicking this link.

The Global Footprint Network has devised a calculation method to measure how much land is required to support various products and lifestyle elements.  So far, Findhorn Scotland has recorded the lowest ecological footprint for a modern lifestyle.  They still require 1.5 planets of resources equal to Earth (if everyone lived their same lifestyle).  They've achieved an important improvement but we need to go further - we need to go all the way to infinitely sustainable...
